  • HOT MESS – virus version

As part of the “Spy On Me” festival at HAU Hebbel am Ufer 2020, dgtl fmnsm was invited to create an expansive installation and a four-day program. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the program could not take place in the physical space and was carried out online at short notice as a “HOT MESS Virus Version”:

HOT MESS Virus Version” is an interactive project inspired by the often chaotic order of our desktops, our mental structures and frivolous digital filing cabinets. All the data and documents, the suffering and the joy, the private and the public, all these complex overlapping worlds are hidden behind tiny symbols and permeate us, the hyper-individualized beings of the capitalist way of working and living. “HOT MESS” devotes itself lovingly and critically to our user interfaces and says a pleasurable farewell to the option of reducing data or preventing its misuse, which has long since ceased to exist. With online performances, conversations, technological rituals and laboratories for counter-speculation, dgtl fmnsm explores the remaining possibilities for untangling the volumes of data in the depths of devices until the radiators finally overheat and what we call reality finally collapses. Because technology is not neutral and only a feminist AI can save us.
